#1) You are building a new home and want to use CurveMakers        Arches. Remember that your Rough measures will always belarger than your Finished measures. This is the easiest of all. Simply provide us with the following measurements: Rough Opening Width (A in the diagram)    Rough Opening Height (B in the diagram)    Total Wall Thickness (Jamb Measure) with sheetrock hung (C in the diagram)    *Pay particular attention during the early framing stage of construction to the Framing Specifications provided with each model concerning electrical and sheetrock work.

#2) There is no existing opening and you want to add one. You will follow the New Construction Installation Instructions. Submit your Rough measurements OR what you would like your Finished measurements to be (being aware of framing specifications). Remember that your Rough Opening measures will always be larger than your Finished Opening measures. Allow 2" for the width and 1" for the height. What is your Rough Opening Width (A in the diagram)?     What is your Rough Opening Height (B in the diagram)?     What is your Total Wall Thickness (Jamb Measure) with sheetrock hung (C in the diagram)?     How tall are your ceilings?     OR Being aware of Framing Specifications: What will your Finished Opening Width be?     What will your Finished Opening Height be?     What is your Total Wall Thickness with sheetrock or plaster hung (C in the diagram)?     How tall are your ceilings?

#3) Your existing opening is rectangular and finished with drywall (sheetrock) or plaster Think of this current opening as having Rough Opening measurements like a new home under construction. The New Arch Opening Width will be at least 2" smaller than the current opening width. The New Finished Height will be at least 1" lower than your current opening height. The Finished Jamb measure is the measure across the thickness of the wall. What is your Current Opening Width (A in diagram)?     What is your Current Opening Height (B in diagram)?     What is your Total Wall Thickness (Jamb Measure) (C in diagram)?     How far is the inside edge of the opening from the right corner of the room?     How far is the inside edge of the opening from the left corner of the room?     How tall are your ceilings?

#4) Your existing opening is rectangular and has wood molding (trim) around it. The existing Molding (trim) and Jambs will have to be removed, bringing the opening back to its Rough Opening measurements when the house was built. You do not have to remove the existing molding and jambs to give us the Rough Opening measures. You can almost always assume that the New Arch Opening can be the same as your current trimmed rectangular opening.

How wide is the current molding?     What is the inside with of the current opening (A in diagram 1)?     What is the inside height of the current opening (B in diagram 1)?     What is the width of the current Jamb (C in diagram 1)?     How far is the inside edge of the opening to the right corner of the room?     How far is the inside edge of the opening to the left corner of the room?     How tall are your ceilings?

#5) Your existing opening is arched and finished in drywall (sheetrock) or plaster.

Since an arch already exists, CurveMakers will need a paper pattern of your curved shape for comparison with our standard shapes and sizes.

Here's the best way to make your template:
Pin a piece of paper (gift-wrapping paper works too) over the arch shape and trace the shape as accurately as possible. You do not need to cut out your template. We only need the curved shape, not the entire opening.

On the paper tracing please include the following information:

1. Mark the Spring Line (the point at which the curve meets the vertical straight sides).
    Just a short mark coming off the line on each side will be OK.
2. Measurements:
    • From the floor to the highest point (apex) of the arch
    • Width of your opening
    • Jamb Width (wall thickness)
